Art and Architecture
La Fàbrica Casaramona is a work of art in itself. The building, with its towers, red bricks, and modernist elements, is worth a visit even for architecture enthusiasts. Inside, the space is designed in a modern way while respecting the historical character of the building.
La Fàbrica Casaramona was built in 1911 by Josep Puig i Cadafalch to house a textile factory commissioned by industrialist Casimir Casaramona. Innovative for its time, the factory used electricity instead of steam and was a model of functional modernist architecture. It closed shortly after opening due to the industrial crisis, was later reused as a warehouse, and then restored in the 1990s to become today’s CaixaForum.
