Visit the MEAM Barcelona
A museum in the heart of the El Born district, only 20 meters from the Picasso Museum Barcelona. It is interesting to combine a visit to both museums.
The building is a former palace from 1790, perfectly restored, preserving original paintings, reliefs, and woodwork, and it has won the FAD (Foment de les Arts i del Disseny) award.
The entrance leads directly to a courtyard with a staircase and sculptures. A large central hall 10 meters high.
Headquarters of the “Foundation for the Arts and Artists," which owns the museum.
Dedicated exclusively to modern and contemporary art, but only figurative art. Exhibition of its own collection: with 3 permanent collections from a wide and varied range of contemporary living artists (painting and sculpture): these are 200 artists from 50 countries, presented through the international competitions organized by the Foundation, showcasing a unique and highly original collection.
Other collections are temporarily exhibited, such as 20th-century European sculpture (Despiau, Bourdelle, Malfray, Klimsk, etc.) and Catalan sculpture of the 20th century.
A completely different and original vision of contemporary art, beyond abstraction and experimentation. A little gem, a delightful corner in the heart of old Barcelona.
