New Camp Nou
The New Camp Nou – FC Barcelona’s Dream Takes Shape
The legendary Camp Nou is being transformed. Since major renovation work began in 2023, FC Barcelona’s stadium has been undergoing a spectacular transformation to become the Spotify Camp Nou, a more modern, more comfortable venue better suited to the demands of today’s football. This project is at the heart of Espai Barça, the vast programme to transform the Les Corts district around the stadium, the future Palau Blaugrana, the museum, shops, restaurants and new hospitality areas.
A titanic project
The ambition is huge: to increase the stadium’s capacity to nearly 105,000 seats, fully cover the stands, modernise the infrastructure and offer fans a new experience. The overall financing of the Espai Barça project is estimated at €1.45 billion.
The new Spotify Camp Nou will preserve the soul of the historic stadium while incorporating a more open architecture, new VIP and hospitality areas, more accessible spaces and improved connectivity. The goal is to make Camp Nou a more functional, more profitable and more enjoyable stadium, both on match days and during visits.
What is the status of the work in 2026?
After more than two years of work, FC Barcelona officially returned to its stadium on 22 November 2025, for a match against Athletic Club. This return took place gradually, with capacity initially limited to just over 45,000 spectators.
In 2026, work continues while the stadium once again hosts matches. With the gradual opening of new areas, including the Gol Nord, available capacity has risen to around 62,000 seats. The next stages concern the upper tiers, VIP areas, hospitality zones, interior finishes and the future complete roof covering of the stadium.
Final delivery of the new Camp Nou remains gradual. The club is aiming for a complete configuration of around 105,000 seats, but the timetable depends on the progress of the work and the administrative authorisations required for each phase.
What will change in the new stadium
The future Spotify Camp Nou will offer a very different experience from the old stadium:
- Capacity increased to nearly 105,000 spectators.
- A full roof covering over the stands.
- More modern seats and redesigned circulation areas.
- Improved accessibility for all visitors.
- New VIP areas, boxes and hospitality zones.
- A modernised FC Barcelona museum.
- New shops, restaurants and reception areas.
- Better connectivity and more advanced audiovisual equipment.
The project also includes better integration of the stadium into the Les Corts district, with more open and pleasant outdoor spaces for both supporters and visitors.
Palau Blaugrana and Espai Barça
Espai Barça is not limited to the stadium. The project also includes the construction of the new Palau Blaugrana, a modern arena for FC Barcelona’s basketball, handball, futsal and roller hockey teams. Its planned capacity is around 12,500 spectators.
With the new stadium, museum, commercial spaces and Palau Blaugrana, Barça aims to create a true sports and cultural campus open all year round.
