Hostal Girona
About
A time capsule
In a historic building from the nineteenth century, the Hostal Girona is a guest house which seems to have kept a stamp a little outdated. This is a style since decoration is actually very recent, colorful and warm. We feel at ease. Air-conditioned rooms with TV and free wifi. And for all: a fitness room. The perfect low-cost downtown.

To be as honest and objective as possible, I didn’t expect to be writing this, especially as I enjoyed my stay, the room and breakfast area, and found most of the staff very friendly. On my checkout, a member of staff (short hair, big boned) offered to keep my 3 bags in the staff storage room. There was a large protest outside so I thought leaving valuables with them would save me from being pickpocketed. To my surprise, when I collected the bags, one had been moved from the Celine Phantom handbag (€3600) - with my passport and other major valuables - that had mysteriously vanished.
I asked to look in the storage room to confirm that the Celine hadn't been misplaced instead of stolen. The male receptionist became defensive, yelling that I was not allowed to look at the CCTV footage to spot any potential thief. He dismissed my perspective and treated me as if I was "making up stories" as he said. Feeling helpless and miserable, I would have appreciated a simple apology or a little sympathy. I have now recorded some videos of his reactions as evidence for my lawyer. I am simply stating facts for constructive purposes.
I had a great experience! Everything lived up to my expectations. The staff was really helpful and accommodating to any requests we had, both before and after arriving. Breakfast was nice and the room was spotless. The only drawbacks were that it was a bit noisy on occasion and the wifi was a bit weak. It's worth a stay though!
Stepping into an elevator with glass doors, one is met with old world charm and tranquility. The food was sublime, and they kept an array of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit, and croissants available at all hours - a wonderful addition. Although pricey, we can't help but love it. The rooms were immaculate and spacious, and the shared showers - though peculiar with clear glass - were of top-notch quality.
I had an absolute wonderful stay at Hostal Girona! The building has so much character, and the friendly reception staff allowed us to leave our bags until check-in. Our room was fresh and clean, with a unique ceiling feature that showcased the property's history. Plus, there was a balcony with two built-in seats and a TV with Netflix! The shower and sink were incredibly convenient too. The only minor downside was that the toilet was down the hall from the room. But the highlight was definitely the breakfast! We had omelets, meats, cheeses, bread, pastries, yoghurt, cereal, and more - much more than we expected for the amazing price! The staff was always helpful whenever we had a question, and the drink facilities were open throughout the day for some down-time refreshments. I'm so pleased with my stay at Hostal Girona and will definitely be returning in the future!

This accommodation is tidy and in a convenient location. However, the walls are not very soundproof, so you can often hear other guests walking around and coming in and out. If you're someone who needs peace and quiet to sleep, this isn't the ideal place to stay. I have been disturbed by noise multiple times during my stay, both from other guests and from the staff.
