Recently stayed at a hotel in Barcelona for one night. While the location was convenient, the overall experience was not satisfactory. The cleanliness was poor and the room was extremely basic. There was no designated place to dry our towels and the lack of a chair and table made it inconvenient to enjoy the complimentary coffee and tea. Based on my experience, I do not recommend staying here as it is not worth the money.
This hotel is situated in an ideal location on Passeig Picasso, across from Parc de la Citadella. However, if you are traveling there, don't go directly to the address listed - the reception is around the corner on Carrer Princessa. The rooms are spacious, and the bed and pillows are very comfortable. There is a safety box in each room, and the hot water and liquid soap in the bathroom are great. Unfortunately, there is no storage space in the wardrobe as there are only hangers. Breakfast is not included, however there is a coffee machine and sometimes you can find some complimentary biscuits. The telephone in both the room and common area weren’t operational either. The surrounding area is full of restaurants, bars and places to shop, however it is advisable to be cautious at night as there is a lot of homeless people using the sidewalks near the entrance.
This hotel is far from what was depicted online. The check-in process was confusing and inconvenient as it was off-site. The WiFi connection was unreliable and the loud noises coming from the ceiling were unbearable. And the presence of cockroaches in the bathroom was a complete deal breaker for me. The bed was large and cozy, so that was the sole saving grace of this place. All-in-all, it was a disappointing stay at Chic & Basic Zoo.
Floors were warm and it was seriously unbearable! Woke up with a raging headache and felt like I had slept in a sauna!! Staff weren’t very helpful!
The Chic & Basic Zoo was a big disappointment. After our failed attempts at finding the entrance with no clear signage, we eventually found reception down the street. Check-in was OK but the room was basic, as expected. The biggest issue was the intense heat, even though it wasn't the season. The floors were warm and the room was like a sauna, causing me to have a raging headache upon awakening. To make matters worse, the key to the outside was complicated and the staff weren't friendly or helpful at all. Definitely not recommended.
I booked in March 2021 for an 8 night break in Barcelona in July 2021. When we arrived, we were shocked to find the hotel completely abandoned. We waited for over three hours in the street before we were finally able to contact a representative who informed us that the hotel had been relocated 20km away. In the end, we had to find another place to stay. It was a terrible experience and I wouldn't recommend Chic & Basic Zoo to any of my friends.
