The entrance of this hotel exuded style and the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The communal spaces were clean and contemporary, clearly well taken care of. However, the room was disappointingly dark with minimal natural light. The bathroom fixtures were satisfactory. My stay cannot be rated higher than "average" due to a few setbacks. Firstly, the mattress on the bed was uncomfortably hard for a hotel with a 4-star rating. Additionally, the air conditioning lacked a thermostat and was set to an ambient temperature, making it difficult to keep the room cool. Lastly, the breakfast options were subpar, with poor tasting eggs, stale pastries, and a limited selection of cereal and cold cuts.
The hotel's location was impeccable and the overall quality was satisfactory. I was able to easily walk to and from the Placa Catalyuna airport bus terminal, and the Universidad stop was also conveniently located nearby. Public transportation was easily accessible as well, with a metro station in close proximity. My room was spacious and peaceful, providing a nice view from the back of the hotel. The staff, particularly Natalie at reception, were exceptional. She exuded warmth and hospitality, even taking the time on her own first day to train a new employee with positivity and encouragement. It was evident that she genuinely wanted all guests to have a pleasant stay. While there were some minor signs of wear and tear in the room, it was clean and had all the necessary amenities, including a great shower and comfortable bed with high-quality linens. I rested well during my stay. The breakfast offered was decent, though the coffee machines were not always refilled promptly. Overall, a wonderful experience and I would definitely consider returning in the future.
During our 4-night stay, we were not entirely satisfied with the amenities and attention to detail at this accommodation. Upon our early arrival, we found the reception area to be understaffed with a long line of guests waiting to check in. The lack of air conditioning made our wait even more uncomfortable. After waiting for 10 minutes, we had to ask for additional assistance as the receptionist was unable to handle the influx of guests. Our room was spacious and had a nice balcony overlooking the street, but it was also quite warm and required us to open the doors for some relief. The air conditioning only went down to 19 degrees which was not cool enough for our liking. Additionally, there were several issues with the room, such as the safe not working and the beds being made up as twins despite our booking for a double. We also noticed a lack of full-length mirrors, spoons for tea, and consistent room checks before check-in. We encountered some difficulties with our entry cards not working and had to make multiple trips to reception, including one instance late at night when we were in desperate need of using the restroom. There was a distinct smell of drains and the hotel lacked a bar or vibrant atmosphere. Furthermore, we noticed a broken piece of glass on the landing as well as the absence of a second desk chair in our room despite ample space. We did not have breakfast at the hotel but the staff were friendly, although reception was not always manned. The beds were decent and the cleaning was satisfactory, although one day it was still being completed when we returned at 4pm. While the location was convenient, we have stayed in other 4-star hotels in Spanish cities, including Madrid, with much better facilities. Overall, we would rate this as a 3-star hotel and our stay left a lot to be desired.
I recently stayed at a hotel in Barcelona for 7 nights. During my stay, there was a leak from the sink in my room that was not addressed by the staff. However, the most frustrating part was when we experienced two full days without hot water in the shower during the middle of winter. Despite bringing this issue to the manager's attention, it took them 2 weeks to respond without showing any concern or offering a solution. It was disappointing to receive such poor service from a hotel that claims to be of higher standard. The management seemed inexperienced and lacked communication skills. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this hotel.
