During our recent family stay in Barcelona, we were disappointed with the overall services provided at the hotel. Despite spending four nights over the Christmas holidays, we encountered several issues with our room. It was not properly cleaned and often lacked basic amenities such as towels, toiletries, and water. We were forced to call reception frequently for these items. The cleanliness of the rooms was poor in general. The breakfast was decent, but our experience was soured by the unprofessional behavior of one of the managers. Upon requesting a coffee or juice before heading out for a morning walk, my sister and her husband were told it was not allowed as it was considered eating twice. This was a first for us, as they have never encountered such a rule during their travels around the world. The manager on duty not only yelled at them, but also acted unprofessionally. The only positive aspect of the hotel was its location near the water and close proximity to the metro. However, it is quite far from the city center and not located in a modern area of Barcelona.
During our recent trip to Barcelona, we spent 3 nights at a hotel in the Les Corts area. Unfortunately, our experience was not very satisfactory. Despite being advertised as a 4-star property, it fell short of our expectations. Upon check-in, the receptionist tried to upsell us on a room upgrade, suggesting that the room we were assigned was not up to par. We declined and were disappointed to find that the room was indeed quite outdated, with peeling paint and old furniture. The staff were average, and one day, we had to call reception to request towels and complimentary water bottles as they were not replenished by housekeeping. Despite being assured they would be delivered shortly, they never arrived. The location was decent but not central. Overall, our stay here was underwhelming and if we were to visit Barcelona again, we would not choose to stay here and would not recommend it to others.
The services provided were excellent and the level of cleanliness was top-notch. I also enjoyed a good breakfast and reliable Wi-Fi. The gym, while small, seemed to have undergone recent renovations. However, beyond that, there wasn't much to write home about. The property had an outdated feel, as if it were an old hotel from the 1970s trying to be modernized. That being said, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and were incredibly helpful. I should also mention that the beds were comfortable and I slept well during my stay, which is always important. In terms of location, unless you have specific plans in the area, there isn't much to boast about. However, I've been told that they are currently undergoing renovations and have already modernized the lobby, with plans to continue renovating the rooms.
The hotel was exceptionally tidy and located in a peaceful area, making it easy to locate and well-connected to public transportation. I highly recommend it. My stay was pleasant and the restaurant was lovely. The breakfast was also quite delicious.
I recently had a disappointing stay at the Ilunion Les Corts Spa Hotel in Barcelona. My first impression was not pleasant, as the reception area was uninviting and the staff seemed disinterested. Upon arrival around 9-10 pm on November 29th, a female staff member (whose name I believe was C.) greeted us while another staff member was loudly talking on the phone. To my dismay, C. informed me that my booking was only for one person, not a couple with a baby, and charged me an extra 150 euro. This brought the total cost of our 4-day stay to 600 euro, without even including access to the spa or dinner. I was shocked and tried to discuss the sudden price increase with C., but she became aggressive and started shouting at me, claiming that every hotel in the city charges additional fees. And even though we were traveling with a young child, they placed us on the 7th floor. It seemed like the service at this hotel was ruined by the presence of some inexperienced staff, who seemed more interested in playing receptionist than providing quality service. I was disappointed and frustrated with the lack of transparency and would not choose to stay at this hotel again in the future.
