Our stay was fantastic! 😍 The room was everything we hoped for - stylish and perfectly situated. 😎 We were able to soak in the lively atmosphere of the bustling street below, with its charming shops and lively bars. 🛍️ Plus, getting around was a breeze as the nearby Arc de Triompf was a hub for public transportation. 🚇 The only minor downsides were the lack of information about a separate check-in location and a shower mishap on the first night. 🚿 Thankfully, the issue was resolved the next day while we were out and about. 💦 Overall, we loved the room and location so much that we wouldn't mind returning for another stay! 😊
From the moment we entered the building, our check-in process went smoothly. The lobby was impressive and the elevator that led straight to our room was a unique feature. However, we couldn't ignore the unpleasant smell that filled the air. It was a mix of strong cleaning products and something much worse. We tried to overlook it and stay positive, especially since the neighborhood seemed charming. The apartment itself appeared clean, but we soon discovered that the kitchen sink had no hot water and the bathroom mirror was missing. Despite these inconveniences, the real issue was the bed. It was as hard as a rock and impossible to get comfortable on. The constant noise from the street, including people yelling and construction work, didn't help either. To make matters worse, the headboard was not attached to the bed or wall, causing loud bangs every time we moved. The refrigerator's loud growling didn't help with getting a good night's sleep either. When morning finally came, we were greeted with jackhammers and construction noise from the building next door. To top it off, the shower head was clogged and the bathroom sink didn't drain properly. The lack of basic amenities, such as coffee and bottled water, were also disappointing. We ended up checking out early and moving to another hotel nearby, where we had a completely different and much better experience. It was a shame that the staff at the apartment didn't even ask why we were leaving early, showing a lack of concern for their guests' satisfaction.
My recent stay in Barcelona at this accommodation was a disappointment. While I have previously had a great experience with the same company at a different location, my stay on the 5th floor of this building was far from satisfactory. We experienced heavy rains during our stay and as a result, water was leaking from the ceiling in four different places. Additionally, there was water running down the interior staircase. It was clear that the maintenance of the property was not up to par, despite the unexpected weather conditions in November. Although the staff at the office was friendly, I was not informed of a change in apartment until we arrived on the first night. However, I was given a full refund for the inconvenience.
The check-in and check-out process was quite smooth, but I had been forewarned by other reviews that the check-in was not at the same location as the apartment. I decided to use their shuttle service from the airport, but I must say it was not worth the cost. The driver was late and constantly texting while driving. In hindsight, it would have been much cheaper to just take a cab. I was also worried about getting a cab at 4am to go back to the airport, but there were plenty available even at that early hour.
The room itself was decently clean, but there was some mildew in the shower. In addition, there was an issue with the air conditioner's drain line being clogged, which resulted in a huge puddle on the floor that made it quite slippery. Thankfully, the staff fixed it the next day and provided fresh towels. They even gave me a day bed at no extra charge and were very helpful with any questions I had about my stay.
As for the amenities and building, they provided just enough towels and toilet paper to last for a couple of days. However, when I asked for more towels, they happily obliged. During check-in, I was told that in case the elevator was out of service, I could use the stairs to reach my fifth floor apartment. I'm relieved that didn't happen because the stairs were made of glass and I have a fear of heights. It was quite challenging to navigate through them due to their transparent nature.
To my disappointment, I encountered a cockroach in my room towards the end of my stay. Unfortunately, I ended up bringing some of these critters back home with me. When I informed the staff and even provided a picture of the cockroach on the wall, they simply thanked me and did not do anything else about it.
The location of the apartment was perfect for me as it was close to all the events of the Festival de Mercè. Most of them were just a block or two away, and it was very convenient to walk to the metro and regional train stations. Overall, despite some minor issues, my stay here was satisfactory.
The advertised photos of the hotel were plentiful, but upon arrival, we discovered that our room did not match the images. It was not as nice and the king size bed felt a bit too small, with only one large blanket. While the bathroom appeared clean at first glance, the corners had a black substance that could possibly be mold. The main door and elevator could only be accessed with a phone that had internet, and surprisingly, the elevator opened directly into our room. To open the doors and use the elevator, we had to use a mobile website with toggles. However, it required a lot of effort to open the main door. Despite being given three numbers, only the WhatsApp number was functional. Luckily, the responses to my messages were quick. We arrived one hour early, but the mobile website was still locked. A call to the reception allowed us to access the website one hour ahead of time, which was a positive experience. The location is ideal for exploring the Gothic Quarter by foot.
