El Gran Café
El Gran Café is located near the Mayor House, this old-fashioned restaurant decorated in the style "Belle Epoque", serves typical Catalan and international dishes.
If you are looking for standards choose eyes closed: steak tartare, roast beef, duck magret and osso buco.
We prefer Catalan recipe like los taquitos de rape con muselina y miniverduras... Or try the daily menu with many dishes to choose and just perfect.

Do not go to this restaurant. Lovely interior, terrible food and terrible service.
We ordered our food and 3 of the 4 dinners arrived but the vegetables were cold. We talked to the waiter (politely) and were to eat the fish on the plate and you will be brought some hot vegetables in a moment.
Before those vegetables arrived my food arrived and yes, you’ve guessed the vegetables were absolutely cold AND so my meat course. I asked for it to be taken away and be properly heated. 5 Minutes later it came back, yes you’ve guessed it, still absolutely cold. This was getting DANGEROUS. We all know how bad undercooked poultry can be.
We said we wanted to leave and were told that we had to pay for the bottle of wine we had ordered. Given this bad service the wine should have been complimentary. But no, We had to pay.
This restaurant is not cheap and appears popular. But beware; the quality of food and service is terrible
cran cafe - beaujolais (1 Feb 2008 - 15:14)
nice evening, we ordered two bottles of wine because we did not like the first one (but were drinking half of it), food was not amazing but very nice, my duck was tasty, service was friendly and professional, one waiter even recognised us even the next day on street, but the best was the decorated already a little bit faded style -- great ambience. We liked to sit there. We made a reservation on the same evening, so we had to wait a little bit and had a great cava (you can drink a lot of great cava in Barcelona) on the bar. Recommend it
