Located just behind the MACBA Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, Casa Almirall is a true Barcelona institution. Founded in 1860, it is the city's oldest modernist bar. It has preserved its charm of yesteryear, offering visitors an authentic journey back in time.

As soon as you enter, the stained-glass wooden doors and painted glass signs bear witness to the bar's Modernist heritage. Inside, the marble counter, carved wooden shelves and wrought-iron statue of the muse of the 1888 Universal Exhibition immerse customers in a warm, bohemian atmosphere.

 

Casa Almirall is renowned for its homemade vermouth, traditionally served with olives, at the affordable price of €3. Absinthe lovers will also find something to their liking, as this drink has been revived in this historic venue.
