Hotel 1898
About
Historical atmosphere and harmony
On the city centre (the Ramblas) Hotel 1898 is another of our favorite hotel in Barcelona. 1898 was known as the Palace of the Marquess of Comillas. From this glorious past it kept a rich historical atmosphere and harmony. We love its sunny terrace with pool, large rooms, a restaurant by chef Carles Boronat, a beautiful spa. No hesitation..
Plaza Catalunya is just 200 metres from 1898 Hotel. Guests can also walk to the Gothic Quarter with its cathedral in 10 minutes.169 Rooms!

During our stay at a hotel in Barcelona, we were impressed by the overall experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, with special mentions to Martina and Maria for their exceptional service. The location of the hotel was perfect, right in the heart of the city, and the spa facilities were top-notch. Our Superior room was spacious and had a lovely balcony, providing us with a comfortable and quiet stay. We were so pleased with our experience that we would without a doubt return to this hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making our trip memorable. - Sharon & Shona.
During our stay in Barcelona, we came across a charming hotel that caught our eye. It wasn't easy to find, as the main entrance on La Rambla was closed. However, we eventually entered through a side entrance near Honest Greens. Our first impression of the hotel was positive - the seating area and bar were spacious and comfortable. We did notice a strong fragrance in the lobby, but we actually quite liked it. The staff at the reception desk were efficient and helpful, even bringing us an extra bottle of water upon request. Our room was lovely, with a good layout and all the necessary amenities. The only minor inconvenience was the shower in the bath, which was a bit difficult to access and had a low shower head that didn't quite accommodate my 6-foot frame. As mentioned by others, we were pleasantly surprised by a delivery of bubbly on our second evening.
The breakfast was decent, with some nice touches such as a chef offering samples and ham available to carve. However, there were some drawbacks like limited hot food options and Nespresso coffee. Nevertheless, the staff happily made us fresh eggs and omelettes upon request.
Unfortunately, during our visit in March, the swimming pool was not accessible so we didn't get to experience the spa. But from what we saw, it looked like a relaxing place with a sauna, steam room, and a relaxation pool. We heard there was also a rooftop pool, but we didn't have the chance to check it out.
The location of the hotel was superb - in a mostly pedestrian area with plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants to explore. We highly recommend taking the time to look up and admire the beautiful architecture. It was also convenient to reach the harbor and beach. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
The airpirt lost my lugugae, and The Hotel did everything they couly to help me find my luggage and bring it back to me. There was a language barier with the Airport, but the hotem helped me call to find my luaggae and was very accommodating in the meantime until my luggage arrived. The front Staff and bartenders made me feel comfortable even though I had non of my belonging with me. I dont know if anyone could have helped me the way Heotel 189 did. We will definitely stay agaim!.
During our recent trip to Barcelona, my partner and I had the pleasure of staying at a hotel near the city center. We decided to check out the hotel bar on one of our first nights and were greeted by a lovely bartender named Maxima. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made the most delicious drinks. She was such a delight that we ended up coming back to the bar instead of exploring the town another evening. We also took part in a mixology class with Hector, who was equally wonderful. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable stay with great staff and a convenient location.
Our time at this hotel was truly unforgettable. The staff went above and beyond, providing top-notch service that exceeded our expectations. We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade to a fantastic room, making our vacation and honeymoon even more special. The spa facilities were top-notch and added an extra level of relaxation to our trip. We highly recommend this hotel for its central location and the overall crazy amazing experience it provided us. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so wonderful.
