This hotel has a great location, close to all the historical and tourist attractions. Our room was always kept clean by the housekeeping staff who visited every day. We were provided with fresh towels on a daily basis. The on-site bar/restaurant has a limited menu, but the food was delicious.
I had some reservations about this place as there were construction works outside, but I didn't experience any difficulties. The interior of the hotel is really nice, with staff who are helpful and efficient at every level. For breakfast, there are lots of great eateries within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. During my stay, I rented a bike from Bikelona (600m away) and spent 3 days exploring the city. Even the Sagrada Familia was only around 15 minutes away by bicycle, given that Barcelona has efficient cycle paths. The hotel also has bicycle storage just a 30 second walk away, where the bike I hired came with a D lock for extra security. I later moved to another room in the hotel and couldn't have been happier; the air conditioning could be left on when away, the blinds blocked out the light perfectly, and the bed was really comfortable. Additionally, there is a Westfield mall nearby, and a Rambla with 100 bars and restaurants within a 6 minute walk. The hotel is in a nice, quiet area where you can observe local people going about their day. I would certainly return here.
My stay at this hotel was alright - it had a good location and the room was clean 🧹. However, when I tried to leave for the airport, the receptionist (long hair, quiet, and fat) told me there was no train from Barcelona to the airport. If she was working on commission that would be fine, but it wasn't right of her to lie to me. It only took me 5 minutes to find out that the train cost 6 euros instead of the 50 euros she was trying to get me to pay 🤔. I was speaking English to my friends at the time, and I understand another member of staff telling her to call someone for it. It felt really bad to be treated like an idiot 🤬. There's no way to identify staff members, as they were dressed like guests - no uniform. Be careful of staff members who are trying to get commission from you 🤑.
This accommodation offered simple yet functional rooms with all the necessary amenities that I needed. All the staff members I interacted with were accommodating and hospitable. Breakfast was included in my stay and I had it most mornings - the bar/restaurant area was always kept tidy and inviting. I could reach the Glories shopping centre, tram stop and metro station within 10 minutes on foot, and the Llacuna metro station was just a few minutes away. So, this was a great spot for touring around the city, even if it wasn't at the city centre. The only downside was that I had to pay for my coffee as there were no free tea and coffee facilities after breakfast. Despite this small issue, it would be a pleasure to stay here again should I ever return to Barcelona for a short stay!
Ibis Barcelona Plaza Glòries 22@ was great value for money. The place has excellent staff who were extremely helpful and friendly. My room was basic but spotlessly clean and comfortable. The hotel is well located for access to the city centre and underground railway. The food was good and there was a wide range of choices. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a great base to explore Barcelona. The price was very reasonable for the quality offered. A fantastic stay overall!
