This hotel is situated in a prime location, right in the heart of the old city. The breakfast buffet was amazing and the front desk staff were incredibly helpful. However, the housekeeping could use some improvement. My room did not have any tissues and I couldn't find any ice machines anywhere. Additionally, there was only one large towel per person and when I asked for an extra one for my granddaughter, who has thick long hair and prefers a separate towel for her hair, the head housekeeper refused.
We were very pleased to stay at this place for 8 nights out of the 9 we had in Barcelona. Our room was quite spacious and immaculate. The highlight was the tiny balcony that faced the main street. Every evening we would sit there with a glass of wine to relax and observe the commotion below. The hotel staff was friendly and professional, and the location was ideal. Within walking distance to most attractions and with nearby metro stations for getting to further places. The breakfast buffet was worth it, with good food, so we didn't have to search for a restaurant in the morning. However, the soundproof between rooms was not up to standards, as we could hear our neighbors talking, snoring, and unzipping their suitcases every night. We were on the first floor, so the street noise was also quite loud. We used ear plugs and were able to get decent sleep though. To improve the experience, I'd recommend getting a room on a higher floor or at the back, if you are a light sleeper. Despite some of the drawbacks, I had a lovely time and would stay here again if I visit Barcelona.
I had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was nice and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. It was also incredibly clean. It was in an ideal spot for seeing the main city attractions, within walking distance. Unfortunately, there was some restoration work going on next to our room which caused noisy disruption during the day-time on one of the four days we stayed. This was an experience I had not encountered before, but when we raised the issue at reception they offered to change rooms the following day, but this was our departure date. Additionally, there were blackout windows which made it difficult to tell when it was day or night.
This 3 star accommodation provided a convenient location just a two minutes' walk from the Metro station, for incredibly easy travelling around the city. The guest rooms were clean and basic, with comfortable beds and double-glazed windows that kept out the street noise. There were also some good restaurants and stores nearby. On the negative side, the complimentary toiletries were a bit lacking in quality. But for those wishing for a bit more for breakfast, it was worth paying the extra for the wide selection available.
We stayed at the Gran Hotel Barcino for 4 days. The first night was relatively comfortable, but the second night the air-conditioner was off. Upon asking the front desk why, they told us that it was a "seasonal function" that they hadn't told us about upon checking in. After requesting they turn it back on, they told us the owner had instructed them to turn it off and that there was nothing they could do. It was an incredibly uncomfortable night and to top it off, when we checked out two days early, the front desk refused to give us a credit on our credit card. We put a dispute of 50% of the charge with the card but Gran Hotel denied it. Not only was this an unpleasant experience, but their customer service was terrible and it's clear they don't take their customer's needs into consideration. I would highly recommend against staying at this hotel.
