I recently stayed at a hotel in Barcelona and had a great experience. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the reception service was efficient. I also enjoyed the complimentary sweets at the front desk, which I would rate an 8/10 in taste. However, I was disappointed to find that the restaurant food was not included for hotel guests. Overall, I would give this hotel an 8/10 rating.
I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Catalonia La Maquinista Hotel in Barcelona and while the room was visually appealing and well-maintained, my experience was not entirely satisfactory. Despite being advertised as a 4-star hotel, I found that the amenities provided were quite basic. I had to bring my own electric kettle, mug, and bed slippers which was a bit inconvenient.
Unfortunately, my experience at the spa was also disappointing. I was denied access and felt racially profiled, especially when I overheard a white client being allowed in without issue. When I brought this up to the manager, I was told that it was a misunderstanding and that I could now visit the spa. However, this did not make up for the initial treatment and I chose to spend my money at another spa instead.
Additionally, the soundproofing in the hotel was not up to par. I was constantly woken up by the sounds of guests opening doors or knocking, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. However, I must say that the staff in the cafeteria and the cleaning ladies were incredibly friendly and helpful. Some of the front desk staff were also kind and accommodating.
Overall, my stay at the Catalonia La Maquinista Hotel was average. I hope that the elevator is functioning properly during your visit as I had to walk up and down four flights of stairs during my stay. While the welcoming experience at the spa and the management's handling of the situation was a disappointment, the friendly staff in other areas of the hotel made up for it.
Second, the rooms were very outdated, dirty, and had a terrible odor. I asked for a room change, but the receptionist was cold, unhelpful and not accommodating at all.
Finally the breakfast was ok but the coffee was cold and the staff didn't respond when I asked for a new cup of coffee.
Overall, our stay at Catalonia La Maquinista was extremely unpleasant and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My partner and I were expecting a nice stay given the reviews online, but we were left feeling cheated and unsatisfied. We had a terrible experience, from the phone call before our arrival, to the unhelpful receptionist and the outdated rooms. The coffee during breakfast was cold and the staff didn't really care about it. We will definitely not be returning to this hotel again.
I recently stayed at the Catalonia La Maquinista and found it to be an excellent place to stay. The service was excellent, from check-in to check-out. The room was clean and well kept, and the entire hotel had a modern, contemporary look. The personnel were very helpful and accommodating. The location was great too. Right next to a shopping mall, with plenty of restaurants and shops. The only downside was the distance to the metro station, but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. I would definitely recommend Catalonia La Maquinista as a great place to stay in Barcelona!
The rooms were spacious and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nicely prepared and delicious. There was a pool and a gym, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We especially enjoyed the wonderful views from the terrace. Alfredo, the receptionist, was especially attentive and provided us with helpful information about the city. Overall, staying at Catalonia La Maquinista was a great experience for us and we would not hesitate to book a stay here again.
