El Xalet Restaurant Barcelona - johnfitz196@yahoo.co.uk (6 juil 2012 - 07:45)
Fantastic views but what a shame about the food,I was treated to a meal out by my daughter whilst visiting at the end of June 2012, Starter was'nt too bad i had the Tuna Tartar could of had more flavour and even a slice of lemon for the price!! My main course was Veal Fillet with Chargrilled Red peppers,30euros!! It must of been just seared on both sides completley raw inside and served with a few seared tinned red peppers!!!My daughter who is fluent in Spanish complained,my steak was taken away and returned sliced in halve and still raw in the middle but ate it anyway,we complained again and were given our coffee free of charge!!WOW ,what a let down, will not be returning even for the view.

Having visited this restaurant recently, I am well aware of what it has to offer. Despite the beautiful view overlooking the city, I regret to inform you that it has nothing else to offer. The staff were lacking attentiveness, and at one point in the evening the manager came over and outright insulted a member of staff by implying that he was a slave that would do anything he ordered of him. I don’t know about you, but I don’t respect this social status declaration, especially when I am sitting enjoying a conversation with the gentleman who is obviously just trying to earn a living.
Regardless of what the above editor has to say, I completely disagree that the menu is worthy of a visit. In addition, just to top it all off, I suffered from food poisoning for the next week; and as a result ended up forking out 900 euros to reluctantly extend my stay in Barcelona on the hotel room, lost flights, rescheduled flights and so on. Words of advice; STAY AWAY!

went Aug08 for special occasion. Sat on terrace, damp but warm evening. Food and service very good, definitely go again.

Very mediocre lunch meal...I had a very scawny shank of kid goat that I would recommend avoiding and the other guys were not too impressed with their choices either. The view, the food presentation and the wine list make up for it though...worth a visit, but don't make it your "special meal of the trip". Staff were very attentive and the Tortilla "like grandma makes" starter was excellent, but hey, this is Spain so it should be !!!
